The Paradise Motel - Flight Paths

This is the second album of the Australian band 'The Paradise Motel". Their lyrical subject matter often veered towards the melancholy and macabre, which resulted in comparisons to Nick Cave and Mazzy Star. Sparse, hurtful, gentle, a whole host of contradictions, that's how this album sounds, though somehow a lot of the melodies in it says 'Ireland' to me, as they sound a lot like a melancholic celtic band. This album also includes a cover version of The Cars' Drive. If you like female singers with a gentle, yet melancholic voice, do no miss this one. Enjoy it!

Primal Scream - Primal Scream

Oh my... What can I say about this album... It's just brilliant! I don't think there is anything else in the Primal Scream discography that sounds like this one.  The formula in this album works perfectly, it's rock/ballads/rock/ballads all throughout the entire set. This is a hidden classic! "I'm losing more than I'lll ever have" is a combination of the rock/ballad style and it's one of my favourite tracks. Other highlights include "Ivy Ivy Ivy", "You're just dead skin to me", "Sweet pretty thing", "Jesus can't save me".  I'd better go before I name the whole track list as favourites (grin). Enjoy it!

Daniel Ash - Coming down

This album is a real pleasure and a worthy find. Daniel Ash, Bauhaus/Tones on tails/Love and rockets songwriter, brings quite effective atmospheric touches in this dark charismatic album. There's a smooth cover of the classic Beatles 'Day tripper', and several other brilliant songs. 'This love'. 'Coming down fast', and 'Me and my shadow' are highlights to this rare gem. Enjoy it!

A few notes about this post. This is not a rip of the album you can see the cover above, with the exception of the first two songs, 'want' and 'fascination street'. This is indeed a copy of the audio from my own VHS tape from this concert. I got the VHS tape transferred to a DVD and extracted the audio from it.  :) Aww well, don't expect to ever find a soundboard copy of this one as I know for a fact that doesn't exist. Either way, enjoy it! :)

Wayne Hussey - Bare

I have to say this is a fantastic acoustic album. If you close your eyes you can almost feel as being in the same room as Wayne. Simply... lovely. There are two very nice acoustic covers, a night like this from The Cure and Without or without you from U2.
