The Paradise Motel - Flight Paths

This is the second album of the Australian band 'The Paradise Motel". Their lyrical subject matter often veered towards the melancholy and macabre, which resulted in comparisons to Nick Cave and Mazzy Star. Sparse, hurtful, gentle, a whole host of contradictions, that's how this album sounds, though somehow a lot of the melodies in it says 'Ireland' to me, as they sound a lot like a melancholic celtic band. This album also includes a cover version of The Cars' Drive. If you like female singers with a gentle, yet melancholic voice, do no miss this one. Enjoy it!

Now this bootleg has completely taken me by surprise while listening to it! Robert sings the lyrics of 'Watching me fall' at the beginning of 'Untitled' (who would have thought?). 'Pictures of you' comes with additional lyrics and there are some unusual live versions. A must have! Enjoy it!

Primal Scream - Primal Scream

Oh my... What can I say about this album... It's just brilliant! I don't think there is anything else in the Primal Scream discography that sounds like this one.  The formula in this album works perfectly, it's rock/ballads/rock/ballads all throughout the entire set. This is a hidden classic! "I'm losing more than I'lll ever have" is a combination of the rock/ballad style and it's one of my favourite tracks. Other highlights include "Ivy Ivy Ivy", "You're just dead skin to me", "Sweet pretty thing", "Jesus can't save me".  I'd better go before I name the whole track list as favourites (grin). Enjoy it!
